“For nearly 40 years, Rascal House has served hundreds of thousands of Clevelanders, local travelers, sports teams, students, and countless others. On Tuesday, the Cleveland-based fast food chain—known for its pizza, burgers, fries, subs, salads wings and tasty munchies all under one roof—is launching a franchise expansion plan that could result in more restaurants throughout Ohio and beyond.

Company president Niko Frangos has begun accepting franchise applications for Ohio locations in Cleveland, Columbus, Akron, Toledo and Cincinnati. And that’s just for starters; Rascal House is also registered and approved to sell franchises in Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

No specific locations have been identified, but Frangos believes Rascal House can open 3–4 new restaurants this year and as many as 15 total restaurants over the next 24 months.

“We’re proud of our history, our reputation, and the fact that we’re still a Cleveland hometown favorite. Now we’re taking the Rascal House experience to more neighborhoods,” says Frangos. “We’re committed to people; our customers, our crews, and the communities we serve. That’s why we’re turning our success story into an exciting franchise opportunity. It is our goal to continue to bring the same quality products, service and opportunity to people and cities nationwide.”

Founded in 1980 by Frangos’ parents, Rascal House prides itself on being “a different kind of pizza place.” While handcrafted pizza made with homemade dough and sauces is no doubt the cornerstone of the Rascal House menu (more than 2.1 million pizzas served and counting), other food offerings include a variety unseen in the pizza industry—from burgers, subs and wraps to salads, wings and other tasty munchies.

In addition to a steady stream of dine-in customers, Rascal House is a delivery powerhouse. Half of the restaurant’s business comes from delivery/catering.

“We’re not a typical pizza shop. We’re not a typical fast casual restaurant,” says Frangos. “People love the variety, but more importantly, they love being able to get it all at one place.”

To augment the company’s expansion plans, Rascal House is seeking franchise partners interested in joining an emerging franchise with nearly 40 years of success. Including a franchisee fee of $30,000, the Initial investment to open a Rascal House franchise ranges from $386,700 to $694,700.

The average restaurant is 2,500 square feet and employs roughly 40 full- and part-time people. The average volume nationwide, per restaurant, exceeds $1.3 million.

“There is no doubt that Rascal House has an extensive and well-established customer base, but more importantly we have the right systems in place to create a fan base anywhere,” said Frangos. “Join a company that’s in the business of making people happy. Travelers, regulars, corporate offices, young and old, everyone loves Rascal House. When you’re a part of Rascal House, you’re definitely a part of a brand where you’re already loved.”
