Rascal House will name Cleveland’s pizza eating champion on Thursday, Sept. 17 at noon during their annual pizza eating contest.
Two preliminary rounds of the contest will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 15 with a total of 18 individuals participating. The eight qualifying contestants will compete on Thursday at Rascal House’s downtown location near Cleveland State University.
Contestants will have a set amount of time to eat a cheese pizza. Most of the contestants are students at Cleveland State University and other nearby universities.
According to Rascal House owner Mike Frangos, the contest is a fun way for downtown students and residents to take a break from work and have some fun.
“This isn’t something you see every day on your lunch hour and it’s a lot of fun,” said Frangos. “In the past, many people came to support their friends. We’re looking forward to a good-size crowd as we crown the next champion.”
First, second and third place contestants will receive cash prizes and all participants will receive gifts and prizes for participating.
